Skype Session with Mackline and Maria

Getting to know Mackline!

This blog is being created for the benefit of those interested in joining Mackline for her big journey this year. Mackline and her companion/translator Maria arrived in the states on July 20, 2011. They are now with Buzz and Melissa Auvil in Cincinnati, OH. where they are preparing for Mackline's 3-4 reconstructive surgeries at Shriners Hospital. The first surgery will occur sometime in early September. We met Mackline through a medical mission to Kabingo, Uganda formed by Buzz and Melissa. Learn more about the mission at hopeforkabingo.org.

Mackline was mauled by a pig as an infant and has led a challenged life. Through God's blessings and many generous people Mackline has joined us in Ohio for a transformation of sorts. While we understand that her upcoming surgeries will help to transform Mackline, I'm feeling already that her presence, along with that of Maria will transform me in many ways.

In between surgeries Mackline and Maria will be staying with Lisa (my wife) and me (Matt Greene) in Hudson, OH. This photo was taken on August 8, 2011 during our first Skype session. Although Lisa spent a little time with Mackline in Maria in Uganda at the 2011 Hope for Kabingo summer mission, I wasn't able to attend. Therefore, this Skype session allowed me the opportunity to get to know Mackline a little bit. I can tell already that she has great spirit and personality!
